Definitions:
Weight-the vertical force exerted by a mass as a result of gravity

Width-the body of the letter plus a sliver of space that protects it from other letters.

Style-is a broad term that refers to several aspects of a typeface.

Point-a geometric element that has position but no extension; "a point is defined by its coordinates"

Pica-
X-height- the x-height or corpus size refers to the distance between the baseline and the mean line in a typeface.

Cap Hight-In typography, cap height refers to the height of a capital letter above the baseline for a particular typeface

Leading- distance between lines

How is type measured in :
Inches- 1/72 inch
mm- .35
points-8 pts
picas- 4 points= 8 p4

How many points is an inch?
1 pt. equals 1/72 inch


If a letter is set in 36 pts about how many inches tall is it?
